Campaign finance records show Tom Tiffany's campaign for Wisconsin governor took the legal maximum from Dallas billionaire Darwin Deason on Dec. 29, 2025. Deason died Dec. 2. It also took a second $20,000 from the same Windsor household that put one donor over the limit, and the state's records show no refund. It didn't respond to Civic Media's request for comment.

Tiffany has owned a billboard taxed as personal property since 1995, and didn't report it to the state Ethics Commission until 2025.

Tiffany told a tavern crowd he's open to splitting Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources so hunting and fishing are separated from environmental permitting. The state's largest sportsmen's group says the real problem is license fees frozen since 2005 — and a former DNR secretary warned in 2016 that a split gives Republicans 'one agency they can feed and one they can starve.'
