South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds spent more taxpayer money on travel than any other member of the United States Senate, including over $625,000 on luxury private charter flights, nine times what the other senator from his own state spent on private planes. He took $6,000 charter flights to Minneapolis, up to $15,000 a week, when a regular commercial flight cost as little as $500, and most of that money went to a charter company whose owner donated thousands to his campaign. While he lived like a king on public money, he voted to slash federal funding for tribal radio stations back home.
