Members of Congress are paid $174,000 a year. In 2026 the House has held votes on only 72 out of 259 days, because Speaker Mike Johnson keeps canceling workdays and sending lawmakers home early. It is a protection program: he canceled votes to stop an impeachment effort against Trump's Defense Secretary, and to block a petition releasing the Epstein files. While our country faces real crises, MAGA Republicans are taking paid vacations to protect Trump.

On September 15 the House voted 220-204 to end the war with Iran — the third time since June. Republicans voted 203 to 7 against it, and 180 of the members who voted no are on our report cards. The same day, the Congressional Budget Office put the war's direct cost at $38.1 billion and said it will push inflation higher into 2027.
