Andy Harris delayed the food safety rule as tainted lettuce sickened 13,000

This summer, tainted lettuce infected nearly 13,000 Americans, put 570 in the hospital and killed two. A food safety rule is designed to track outbreaks like it and get poisoned food off the shelves before people get sick, but MAGA Republican Andy Harris blocked the FDA from enforcing it until 2028. He chairs the budget subcommittee and slipped the delay into a spending bill to please his corporate donors in the food industry, and the food lobby gave him an award while thousands of Americans paid with their health.
