Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo is selling out his state's water and power to Big Tech. On May 11th, a prominent AI venture capitalist gave $1 million to the PAC backing him. Three days later, Lombardo posted a video declaring his full support for building more data centers in Nevada, and a week after that another data center family gave his PAC $1 million more. In the driest state in the country, these data centers are projected to drink up to 16 billion gallons of water a year and consume over a third of Nevada's electricity — and while Lombardo claims none of it will hurt everyday residents, local power utilities are suing developers for trying to push massive energy costs onto consumers.
