CAIR Says Keith Self Spoke on an 'Electoral Jihad' Live Stream Where a Guest Talked of 'Killing and Capturing' Leaders, and Apparently Never Objected.

CAIR says Rep. Keith Self took part in an October 27 X live stream where former FBI agent John Guandolo allegedly said 'until we start killing and capturing these leaders' America will lose. It wants Self to renounce the remark and shut down the caucus he co-founded.

Keith Self co-founded a caucus in Congress built around fear of Islam. Now the country's largest Muslim civil rights group says he sat through something much worse.

On November 2, the Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Self to renounce remarks made during an October 27 live stream on X. The event was called "Electoral Jihad threats to America."

According to CAIR, Self spoke on the stream and appeared to stay on the program during and after the remarks from another guest, John Guandolo, a former FBI agent. CAIR says an icon for Self appears on the call beside Guandolo, Frank Gaffney and David Wurmser.

What was said

Here is what CAIR says Guandolo said, about 46 minutes into the program:

"Final point; to highlight what I just said this is a war. No war in world history has ever been won by changing a policy, fixing an issue or electing a different guy to office. Wars are won by identifying and vanquishing the enemy. And until we start killing and capturing these leaders of these movements in the United States, shutting their organizations down, seizing their assets, we will lose."

CAIR reads that as an apparent call for "capturing and killing" American Muslim leaders. It has asked the FBI to investigate Guandolo. It says the full recording is available to reporters. We have not heard it ourselves, so the quote above is CAIR's transcript, and it says Guandolo is "allegedly" heard saying this.

"Why a sitting member of Congress would not immediately reject a call for the killing of other Americans is beyond comprehension," said Corey Saylor, CAIR's research and advocacy director. "Rep. Self was in the room. If he disagrees with the idea of murdering American Muslim leaders, he should say so publicly."

Saylor's point is simple, and it's a low bar. Self could clear it with one sentence. We found no public response from him.

Who he shared the stage with

CAIR describes Guandolo as a known anti-Muslim extremist with a history of violence. It points to a 2019 case in which a jury awarded former Hennepin County Sheriff Richard Stanek $600,000 after a casino security video showed Guandolo throwing punches at him. CAIR also says Guandolo left the FBI after allegations of a sexual relationship with a confidential informant, and that he is listed as a senior fellow at Gaffney's group.

This is Self's record

This isn't a one-time slip for Self. In December 2025, he and Chip Roy founded the Sharia Free America Caucus. In February, CAIR labeled it an anti-Muslim hate group, the first time it had done that to a congressional caucus.

In September, Self told Newsmax that "the Muslims want to be treated differently" and "have no respect for U.S. law." He has also taken his fight to a city council vote over a mosque in McKinney.

Republicans spent more than $10 million on TV ads mentioning "Sharia" or "Islam" in a negative way by March.

CAIR wants Self to shut that caucus down. It also says 119 senators and representatives signed a letter opposing it.

The facts, in short

CAIR says Rep. Keith Self spoke on an October 27 live stream and appeared to stay on while former FBI agent John Guandolo allegedly said "until we start killing and capturing these leaders of these movements in the United States," we will lose. CAIR asked Self to renounce the remark, asked him to disband the Sharia Free America Caucus he co-founded, and asked the FBI to investigate Guandolo. We found no public response from Self.
